Published: 13 Feb 2025 03:42pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have extinguished a fire in a large two-storey home in East Killara in Sydney’s Upper North Shore earlier today.

Around 11.15am, six trucks and 22 firefighters responded to the blaze in Koola Avenue after reports of smoke and fire issuing from the property.

Firefighters quickly got to work however the home, believed to be used as an AirBnB, had multiple occupancies and various entry points making it difficult to locate the fire.

It took crews approximately one hour to identify the source of the blaze and extinguish it.

No occupants were present at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported. The home has suffered extensive heat damage.

An area of interest for the fire's origin is around a sauna, with investigations are now underway to determine if it was due to an electrical or product fault.
